Mr. Frank Oppong-Yeboah
Board Chairman

Frank Oppong-Yeboah is the Board Chairman of StarLife Assurance and a distinguished leader in Ghana’s insurance industry. Before assuming this role, he served as Executive Vice Chairman of the company.

A Chartered Insurer and Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), Frank is also a graduate of the University of Ghana. In 1999, he earned the prestigious Rutter Medal for being the best qualifying fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a recognition of his excellence in the field.

With more than 26 years of experience, he has worked extensively across technical and management roles. He began his career at the State Insurance Company Ltd., rising through the Marine and Motor Departments before moving to Star Assurance Co. Ltd., where he served as Chief Manager (Technical Operations) and later General Manager.

Frank has enriched his expertise through advanced training at international institutions in Switzerland and the UK. He also serves as a visiting lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute in The Gambia, helping shape the next generation of insurance professionals.

Beyond StarLife, he chairs the board of UniCredit Ghana Limited, reflecting his broader influence in Ghana’s financial sector.

Mrs. Kakra Duffuor–Nyarko

Kakra Duffuor-Nyarko stands as a distinguished figure within the Ghanaian insurance landscape, celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the industry. At the helm of StarLife Assurance Limited Company, one of Ghana's premier life insurance firms, Kakra assumes the role of CEO with a rich tapestry of experience spanning over thirteen years. Her leadership ethos centres on excellence, propelling innovation, fostering growth, and ensuring profitability and sustainability across all facets of the organization.

As the first female actuary in Ghana, Kakra blazes trails with her visionary leadership, propelling StarLife Assurance to the forefront of the industry. Under her guidance, the company has soared to the second position in market share and claims the top spot in terms of asset size. Her strategic acumen is evidenced by her pivotal role in driving transformative shifts, particularly in leveraging IT and Data Analytics to catalyse innovation within the organization. Kakra spearheads initiatives such as robotic process automation and digital client onboarding, aligning StarLife's operations with the evolving needs of its clientele and the wider public.
 
Possessing a keen eye for detail, Kakra adeptly translates overarching visions into actionable strategies, guiding her team towards tangible milestones. She is a firm believer in the power of knowledge sharing and societal impact, actively nurturing the next generation of leaders by championing initiatives that promote practical experience for Actuarial Science Students and advocate for STEM careers, especially among women.
Prior to assuming her role at StarLife, Kakra honed her expertise at QED Actuaries & Consultants (Aon Hewitt) in South Africa, where she provided invaluable actuarial consulting services across various African nations including Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Mauritius, and Ghana.

Her academic journey boasts an MSc. in Actuarial Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science from the esteemed Cass Business School (now Bayes Business School), City University (London, UK), complemented by a B.Sc. in Economics (Hons) from the University of Warwick (UK). She holds esteemed fellowship positions with the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and the Actuarial Society of Ghana, epitomizing her commitment to professional excellence. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Actuarial Society of Ghana.

Kakra's exceptional leadership in the insurance industry continues to earn widespread acclaim. Most recently, she was named Life Insurance CEO of the Year (2025, 2024, and 2023) by the Ghana Insurance Awards, a testament to her consistent excellence and influence in the sector. She also received the Life Insurance CEO of the Year (2023/2024) award at the Ghana CEO Summit Awards, further solidifying her position as a leading figure in the industry.
 
Her earlier recognitions include being awarded the Outstanding Life Insurance CEO of the Year (2020) by both the Women’s Choice Awards Africa and the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards. In 2021, she received the Gold Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Economic Development of Ghana at the 5th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards, acknowledging her broader impact on national development.
In 2019, Kakra was honoured among the “Female Trailblazers of the African Insurance Industry” by the African Insurance Organization, a recognition of her pioneering role and influence across the continent. These accolades collectively highlight Kakra’s visionary leadership, her unwavering commitment to excellence, and her enduring contributions to both the insurance sector and economic development in Ghana and beyond.
Beyond her corporate endeavours, Kakra serves as the Vice Chairlady of the Women in Insurance Network Ghana (WING), a recently launched network envisioned to be a beacon of positive change, fostering an environment where the talents and aspirations of women of all professions within the insurance sector are nurtured and brought to fruition. Mr. Kofi Duffuor
Board Member

Kofi Duffuor is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Star Assurance Group Limited and a seasoned leader in Ghana’s insurance industry. Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Star Assurance Company Ltd., where through dedication and strategic leadership, he and his team moved the company from near the bottom of the industry to become the third-largest non-life insurer in Ghana. Under his leadership, Star Assurance twice won the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Insurance Company of the Year award.

In March 2011, Kofi was unanimously appointed Chairman of the Board of WAICA Reinsurance Corporation PLC, a multinational reinsurer headquartered in Sierra Leone, where he continues to provide strong leadership. He has also served on the executive of the Ghana Insurers Association, chairing its Finance and Secretariat Committee.

Kofi’s leadership has been widely recognized—he was named Best CEO of the Year 2018 in the General Insurance Category by the CEOs Network Ghana, and he is also a recipient of the Ghana Business Leaders Excellence Gold Award.

He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana, is a Chartered Insurer, and a Fellow of both the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana.

Mr. Tutu Kwachie 
Board Member

Tutu Kwachie is an achievement-oriented investment banking professional with extensive experience in corporate finance, valuation, and strategic advisory across multiple industries. He currently serves as Head of Structured Finance at uniSecurities, where he provides innovative financing solutions and investment guidance.

Previously, he was a Senior Investment Manager at GroFin Africa, managing portfolios and leading initiatives such as restructuring, equity sales, and leverage buyouts. He also consulted for Glico Financial Services, supporting the design and implementation of investment and corporate finance policies. His international experience includes serving as Regional Director and Senior Associate with Madison Street Capital LLC, a U.S.-based investment banking firm, where he oversaw transactions in Ghana and West Africa. Before that, he headed Analytical Services at Houlihan Capital LLC in Chicago, specializing in valuation advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and financial restructuring.

Earlier in his career, he worked as Unit Head in Corporate Banking at Bank of Africa, Ghana, and as a Cluster Revenue Analyst at Ghana International Airlines.

Tutu holds a BA (Hons) in Economics with Statistics from the University of Ghana, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Science and E-Commerce from the London School of Commerce, and an MBA in Finance from Charles Sturt University, Australia. He is also a Licensed International Financial Analyst and member of several global professional bodies.

Miss Rebecca Lomo Atswei | Member
Board Member

Rebecca Lomo Atswei is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in accounting, auditing, and financial management. Over her career, she has held senior roles with SSNIT, Trust Logistics Ltd, the Internal Revenue Service, Oduru Addiyah & Osei Chartered Accountants, and KPMG.

She currently serves as Board Chair of NTHC Properties and as a Board Member of NDK Financial Services Ltd. She also chairs audit and finance committees under the Public Financial Management Act, including for the Ministry of Aviation and the District Assembly Common Fund, and is a member of the Allied Health Professions Council.

Previously, she was General Manager of Finance and Administration at Trust Logistics Ltd, where she led the turnaround of the business into a self-sustaining company. She also served as Chief Internal Auditor of SSNIT until 2016. In governance, she has been a Board Member and Audit Committee Chair for Republic Bank Ghana Ltd, the Internal Audit Agency, and Trust Logistics Ltd.

Rebecca holds a BSc and an EMBA from the University of Ghana. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (USA), Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Directors (Ghana), and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Mr. Eric Osiakwan
Board Member

Eric Osiakwan is a technology entrepreneur and investor with experience spanning 32 African countries. A pioneer in the continent’s digital transformation, he has founded and supported multiple successful tech start-ups while playing a central role in expanding internet infrastructure across Africa.

He established and led the Africa ISP Association for eight years, during which the industry grew by nearly 120%. Eric was also part of the landmark public-private partnership in Kenya that built the TEAMS submarine fiber cable, the first to connect East Africa to the global internet. He later contributed to the rollout of terrestrial fiber networks in West Africa.

Beyond infrastructure, Eric has served as an ICT consultant to leading global institutions including the World Bank, UNDP, USAID, Soros Foundations, and the US Departments of Justice and State, as well as African governments and private sector players. His thought leadership includes co-authoring the globally adopted “Open Access Model” for telecommunications and publishing several works on Africa’s digital economy.

Eric currently serves on the boards of Nyaho Medical Centre, Star Assurance, and Ghana Cyber City. He has held fellowships at MIT, Stanford, and Harvard, reflecting his global recognition as a leader in Africa’s digital growth story.

Mr. Samuel Acquah
Board Member

Samuel Acquah is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of expertise in business management, enterprise risk, portfolio management, and financial analytics. His career spans leadership roles in risk, operations, and strategy across major financial institutions in Africa, Europe, and Asia.

He most recently served as Chief Risk Officer at GCB Bank PLC, where he designed and implemented an Integrated Risk Management Framework to minimize financial loss while supporting revenue growth and sustainable value creation. Earlier, Samuel held senior positions at global banks, including Barclays PLC in London, where he began his career in 2003, and Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore and Dubai. At SCB, he led risk management teams and played a pivotal role in securing Advanced Internal Risk-Based (AIRB) accreditation and driving Basel II implementation across Africa.

In 2009, he joined Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) as Group Head of Risk Modelling, where he strengthened the bank’s risk management framework across its multinational operations.

Samuel holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Ghana and an MSc in Geoscience Data from Kingston University, London. Beyond work, he enjoys travelling, swimming, football, and spending quality time with his family.

Bernice Quainoo
Chief Operations Officer

Bernice Quainoo serves as the Chief Operations Officer of StarLife Assurance, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s operational strategy. She is responsible for ensuring seamless service delivery, strengthening internal systems, and aligning operational processes with client-focused outcomes that support the company’s long-term vision.

With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Bernice brings deep institutional knowledge, cross-functional expertise, and a results-driven mindset to the core of StarLife’s operations. Her leadership spans key functional areas including Marketing, Customer Service, Corporate Market, Claims, and Underwriting, providing her with a holistic understanding of the value chain and enabling her to drive performance across multiple touchpoints. In her current role, she leverages this breadth of experience to optimise operational efficiency, strengthen compliance, and enhance the client journey.
 
Prior to joining StarLife Assurance, Bernice built a strong foundation in service excellence through roles at DHL Company and Star Assurance Company Limited, where she worked across Sales and Customer Service functions. These experiences shaped her strong customer-focused leadership approach.

Bernice’s academic and professional credentials reflect a career grounded in both knowledge and credibility. She is a Chartered Insurer, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Ghana, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII, UK). She holds a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English from the University of Cape Coast, and a Diploma in Insurance from the West African Insurance Institute (WAII).

Firmly grounded in technical rigour and operational insight, Bernice’s stewardship reinforces StarLife’s commitment to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and responsible growth within an evolving financial landscape. To her, excellence is never accidental—it is deliberately cultivated through discipline, service, and the courage to challenge practices that no longer serve the mission.

Eric Gyebi
Chief Finance and Strategy  Officer

Eric Gyebi is a Chartered Accountant, Insurer, and Tax Consultant with over 15 years of professional experience in the insurance and financial sectors. He currently serves as the Chief Strategy and Finance Officer at StarLife Assurance Company Limited. Eric plays a pivotal role on the company’s strategy team, providing both strategic and operational direction on key areas such as Finance and Investments, Strategy and Performance Credit Control, Collections, and Data Analytics.

With a wealth of experience in various operational and leadership roles, Eric has made significant contributions to the growth of several institutions and the advancement of industry practices. Starting his career as an Account Officer and rising to Head of Accounts, he is credited with transforming the Accounting and Finance function into a vital strategic asset for the company. Eric possesses extensive expertise in Accounting, Finance and Investment, Taxation, Management, and Life Insurance.

In addition, he excels at performance monitoring, conducting comprehensive reviews and assessments across various functions, and implementing preventive and corrective actions to ensure the achievement of organizational goals.

Eric chairs the Procurement Committee and the Staff Welfare Association at StarLife. He is also a Member of the Board of Trustees at HODA Pensions and Provident Fund Schemes, as well as the Fund Manager and Administrator for the StarLife Staff and Sales Executives’ Provident Fund.
Eric is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), the Chartered Institute of Taxation (Ghana), and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (U.K). He holds an EMBA in Finance and a BSc (Honours) in Administration (Accounting option) from the University of Ghana (Legon).

Mr. Kwabena Agadzi
Head, ICT

Mr. Agadzi is the Head of the Information and Communication Technology Department and holds a BSc. in Computer Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an MBA in Project Management from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Mrs.  Rosemary Aryee
Head of Human Resources

Rosemary Aryee is the Head of Human Resources and Administration at StarLife Assurance, where she has contributed to the company’s growth for more than thirteen years. With a decade of that time focused specifically on HR and administration, she has been instrumental in shaping policies that foster a productive and supportive work environment.

She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Methodist University College and a BSc in Human Resource Management from Central University College. In addition, she is a Certified Human Resource Management Practitioner and an active member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, Ghana.

Rosemary has also pursued professional development through multiple courses in customer service and human resource management, further strengthening her ability to balance organizational goals with employee well-being.

Through her leadership, StarLife continues to build a culture of professionalism, efficiency, and care, ensuring that both staff and clients experience the company’s values in action.

Mr. Peter  Kyei Nimoh
Head of Individual Distribution

Peter Kyei Nimoh is a seasoned insurance professional with over 18 years of experience in Ghana’s insurance industry. A Chartered Insurer (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK, he also holds both Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications from the Ghana Insurance College, along with a BA (Hons.) degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana.

Peter began his career with Global Impact Insurance Brokers, before moving to Unique Insurance Company and later Enterprise Life Assurance, where he gained valuable experience across key areas of the business. In 2007, he joined StarLife Assurance as Zonal Manager for the Western and Central Regions. His outstanding performance earned him elevation to oversee the Southern Sector, further strengthening StarLife’s presence in the region.

Over the years, he has held several leadership roles within the company, including Head of Retail Business and Head of Sales Training and Agency Development. His career reflects a strong commitment to growth, professionalism, and service excellence.

With his deep industry knowledge and proven leadership, Peter continues to play a key role in driving StarLife’s mission of delivering trusted life assurance solutions to individuals and families across Ghana.

Mr. Alexander Twumasi
Head, Commercial Business

Mr. Alexander Twumasi is the Head of Commercial Business. He is a chartered Insurer with experience that spans over 16 years in the insurance industry in Ghana.

Alex holds a BA in Management and Economics (combined major) from the University of Ghana, MBA in Finance from Central University Graduate School, and a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom.

He has a reputation of being a strong visionary, deeper level of focus, emotional intelligence, result-oriented attitude and analytical skills.

He has attended many insurance sales and marketing workshops as well as other related programmes and conferences in Ghana and abroad.

Dzifa Fiati
Head of Group Business

Dzifa Fiati is the Head of Group Business, with responsibility for shaping and executing the company’s B2B strategy across corporate clients, groups, associations, and strategic partnerships. She provides leadership in driving sustainable growth, strengthening market positioning, and delivering tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of institutional clients.

With over 17 years of experience in the insurance industry, Dzifa has built a strong track record in leading high-performing teams, managing broker and intermediary networks, and unlocking growth within complex distribution ecosystems. Her experience spans international operating environments, where she has collaborated across multiple markets as well as contributed to product development initiatives in partnership with global donor organisations to advance inclusive insurance. She is a recognised voice and a though leader within the industry.

Dzifa holds an MSc in Financial Risk Management and a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Insurance Ghana and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK (ACII).
